After many decades running smaller SME business units within a corporate setting, l am now offering to bring large company tools and techniques to focus on SME challenges, with particular expertise in business process improvement and risk & issue management
Understanding the role of MD and the pressures on SME Management Team's makes me passionate about adding value and not adding more work for you to do after l leave. So if all you want is a sounding board to confidentially discuss your business plans with, then great. But if you want a full turnkey outcome then l am more than happy to play a hands on role.
The best business solutions usually need proper definition & analysis of the problem, which is where my relationship with you will start. I will then help you get to the nitty gritty of analysing the situation and identifying possible solutions. I can stop there or assist you with implementing the solution, including creating a formal business case to secure funding.
I have operated at MD level, with expertise in growing and transforming £ multi-million operations, with detailed knowledge of manufacturing industry gained over 35 years. I have practical experience and specialist skills developing strategic plans, organisation development, securing funding for capital investment, problem solving & risk management and business process improvement.
Successfully managed the impact of Brexit on supplies to several manufacturing sites, putting in place formal risk management processes that quickly highlighted those products and suppliers with potential difficulties. All potential supply difficulties were controlled with no major impact on manufacturing.
1. Implemented a supplier rating tool for a multi-billion procurement function.
2. Implemented a new manufacturing management system to manage inventory, schedule production, despatch to customers and to provide invoice input.
3. Implemented improved quality and safety management systems and procedures, including formal root cause problem solving.
Provided commercial and project management support to secure high value capital equipment sales worth several million £. This required developing procedures for quotations, contract creation, supplier purchase orders, project tracking and customer support.
Delivered business process improvement projects within a multi-billion procurement function, which included practical and coaching support around implementing LEAN Daily Management throughout the function.
1. Developed new revenue streams contributing 25% of total sales, to achieve 12 year record profit
2. Created a new strategic vision for a £22m turnover manufacturing site, delivering profit growth, operational improvements and a new organisation structure..
Developed a safety maturity audit tool and deployed globally throughout a network of SME's.
As a certified TapRoot expert, led safety incident investigations with SME Leadership Teams to find root causes and corrective actions.
